This position is located at the District Two Headquarters in Salina. This position exists to provide skilled technical services for maintenance and repair on air conditioning and heating systems, as well as electrical and plumbing systems in District, Area, and Subarea buildings.

The KBI is accepting applications to fill a Service Desk Technician I for the midnight to 8am shift, Sunday – Thursday.

As a Service Desk Technician I, you will be expected to provide support in a computer help desk/service desk environment. This position is assigned to the Information Technology Section. The Computer Help Desk/Service Desk must be adequately staffed to cover three shifts and it is operational 24x7x365.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Provide support in a technical computer help desk/service desk environment;
Assist KBI agents, law enforcement officers, and KBI and KCJIS users with day-to-day operational and communication needs;
Provision access to information resources for users and devices and maintain documentation and databases to support provisioning and authorization;
Answer calls from the public and the Kansas Crime Line;
Maintain policy and procedures to support operations for the Computer Help Desk/Service Desk;
Monitor all KBI locations (cameras and access control systems) to assist in maintaining site physical security;
Provide support for all telecommunication needs of the KBI;
Monitor systems relating to the emergency operations of the KBI and serve as the KBI communications center in the event of such emergencies.

Respond to all code red calls. Reset any devices affected by the alarm.

Has complete knowledge in the use of all types of fire extinguishers. Attend training on fire prevention and safety.

Repair or replace plumbing fixtures such as faucets, flush valves and other related parts.

Unclogs floor drains, stools and sinks.

Assist in making emergency repairs on hot and cold-water lines, steam lines, and air lines.

Preparing wall surfaces and painting.

Must commit to 12-13 week duration of the summer internship from May 20th until August 9th.

2004 Summer Fire Hydrant Auditor

The purpose of this position is to assist in the auditing of fire hydrants which includes flushing, operating, maintaining and recording pertinent information about the hydrant and applicable water valves.

2024 Summer GIS Intern – IT

The primary purpose of this position is to assess, create, and edit GIS data using ArcGIS Desktop. GIS data creation will consist of data conversion from other formats such as CAD and also field data collection using GPS equipment. Map creation and GIS analysis will also be completed.
