1 The CNA/CMA/HHA / COOK: certification must be current in the state of Kansas.
2 Able Practice universal precaution at all times. (Washing of hands before care and after care)
3 Address physical, social, spiritual and psychological needs of client and report to Admin/Operator.
4 Able to check Vital signs accurately.
5 Acceptable infection control technique to be used at all time.
6 Respond to client or staff concerns and refer or report to the Operator.
7 Client rights are to be observed at all times.
8 Able to perform all required skills of your individual position, responsibilities adequately and independently.
9 Able to provide activities of daily living, such as Bathing, Dressing, Toileting, meal preparations, feeding, and light housekeeping.
10 Help maintain stability in home.
11 Maintain clean and safe environment/light housekeeping if required.
12 Practice the use of good body mechanics while working.
13 Use cleaning and laundry products properly: Read labels.
14 Identify and eliminate hazards as possible to maintain clean and safe environment.
15 Meal preparations: Shall be able to identify foods to be avoided in therapeutic diets. (Check plan of care).
16 Identify and report observations concerning client.
17 Identify actions in emergency situations: Fire evacuation in the home;

Responsibilities:
The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) works under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or other medical staff and is responsible for assisting nurses by following written and/or oral instructions to administer medications and document drug dosages and times of administration. Additionally, the CMA takes vital signs, assists in examinations and treatments, and assists patients with activities of daily living. The CMA must monitor patients to report changes in the patients’ conditions.

Qualifications:

What it takes to be a Certified Med Aide/Tech at Brookdale:
Our Medication Aides/Techs assist seniors in maintaining physical, social and psychological well-being. Salary: $12.00-$15.00/hour based on experience

Hours: 3pm-11pm

Job Summary: The Nursing Assistant’s primary function is to provide basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. This position will perform duties such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, change linens, and move residents as directed or needed. As a CMA, this position will administer medications as directed.

Essential Functions / Duties:

Provide direct resident care as assigned, conduct resident rounds daily, and perform nursing care as noted below:
Answer call lights within designated timeframe.
Give care to all residents assigned; make rounds on all residents; check soiled linens and side rails.
Change incontinent residents; wash and dry soiled residents.
Walk ambulatory residents; this includes taking them to the bathroom.
Give tub baths, showers, or bed baths to residents.
Complete oral hygiene and toileting.
Turn and reposition all bed and chair residents.
Place bedpans, linens, washbasins, and soiled linens in proper area.
Complete charting on residents.
Complete food percentage, intake and output, bowel, and bladder records.
Empty and record all urinary drainage units.
Review care plans, update and document nurse aide flow sheets with relevant information; document in nursing assistant notes and nurse aide flow sheets the care and treatment provided to the resident and the resident’s response or lack of response to care provided.
Initiate corrective action as necessary and/or seek assistance from the Charge Nurse; identify special resident problems and report them immediately to the Charge Nurse.
Participate in resident care conferences and other facility meetings as assigned; participate in the development of an individualized plan of resident care for residents as assigned.
Responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision.
Participate in facility continuing education programs as required.
Follow facility procedures for admission, discharge, and transfer of residents.
Listen to resident, family, or physician concerns and initiate corrective action and/or report concerns to ADON.
Must be able to work any shift as directed by the ADON.
Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Operate computers programmed with software needed to record, store, and analyze resident information; operate copy/fax/printer machines to send documents and produce documents.
Perform other related duties as directed by the Administrator.

Take residents to the dining room and assist in feeding if assigned.
Serve breakfast and/or lunch trays and assist residents that are unable to feed themselves; remove trays from resident rooms and return them to the dishwashing area; ensure that residents are offered nourishment.
Roll beds down.

Evening
Take residents to the dining room and assist in feeding if assigned.
Serve evening meal trays and assist residents that are unable to feed themselves; remove trays from resident rooms and return them to the dishwashing area; ensure that residents are offered nourishment.
Prepare residents for bed.
