Comply with the Facility’s personnel, safety, and corporate policies and procedures.
Comply with the nursing department’s policies and procedures.
Report witnessed or reported allegations of resident abuse/neglect immediately to the Administrator/DON or Nurse Manager on Call.
Treat residents, family members, visitors, and team members with respect and dignity.
Maintain the confidentiality of all resident and family information.
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
Report any complaints/grievances made by residents to the Director of Nursing Services or per policy.
Participate and cooperate with any facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator or Director of Nursing Services.
Maintain a clean and organized medication cart and medication room.
Always protect resident privacy when administering medication, knock before entering the resident’s room.
Accurately and safely prepare, administer, and document the oral and/or topical medications that are commonly used in this facility that may be ordered for resident use by the attending physician or the Medical Director.
Document and report errors in the administration of medications immediately upon discovery.
Ensure that all medications administered are properly labeled and follow facility policy on storage, labeling and dating of medications.
Complete medication charting per facility policy and procedure.
Assist with following facility policies and procedures regarding the destroying of medications.
Assist in documenting and removing medications that are discontinued by the attending physician.
Follow facility procedures governing drug receipt errors, including notifying the delivery source and the Director of Nursing Services.
Follow the facility’s procedures allowing residents to self-administer their medications.
Assist the Nurse Supervisor/Charge Nurse in monitoring and documenting all aspects of such self-administering.
Notify nurse when medication refills are needed.
Be familiar with the meaning and usage of common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms relative to the administration of medications as used by the facility, pharmacists, and physicians.

Compensation: $16/hour and up depending on experience; shift differential

Medical Assistant

Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant, Licensed Practical Nurse I

Department: Dermatology

Immediate Supervisor Title: Clinic Manager

General Summary: Assisting physicians with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Research patient records from other physicians, having relevant information available and/or scanned into the EMR for the office visit.
2. Perform and document patient assessment in preparation for physician office exam.
3. Assist provider with examination when needed.
4. Maintain accurate patient records.
5. Set up surgical trays for all procedures.
6. Perform patient education.
7. Assist with scheduling procedures and tests.
8. Assist and perform specialized testing.
9. Make phone calls to patients regarding advice, test results, follow up appointments.
10. Refill prescriptions with pharmacy as directed by the provider.
11. Complete appropriate paperwork and phone call to preauthorize medications and testing.
12. Maintain inventory of all medical supplies and medications.
13. Assist with phone triage.
14. Responsible for accurate documentation.
15. Give injections as directed by provider.
16. Keep exam rooms neat, clean and well stocked.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Education: 18 years of age with a high school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), Medical Assistant Certification or Current Dermatology Tech Certification, Licensed Practical Nurse Certification. Must complete Dermatology Tech program within one (1) of hire.

Experience: Less than one year of experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office, dermatology experience preferred.

Other Requirements: Current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).

PRN employees are expected to work a minimum of one (1) day per month.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:
1. Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
2. Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
3. Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.

Skills:
1. Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
2. Skill intact and diplomacy in interpersonal interactions.
3. Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.

Abilities:
1. Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
2. Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
3. Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
4. Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

Equipment Operated: Standard medical exam/office equipment, which may include computerized health information management system for medical records, etc.

Work Environment: Work performed in an outpatient clinic setting with exposure to virus, disease and infection from patients and specimens. Interaction with patients, staff, physicians, pharmacists and other medical facilities.

Mental/Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, sitting, squatting and occasionally lifting up to 30 pounds. Working at a video display terminal for extended periods. Functioning in high stress situations.
