2024 Summer GIS Intern – Mapping and Drafting

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compile, attribute, convert, edit and maintain data in geographic and operational databases and their associated documentation.
Collect GPS points in the field.
Provide timely response and establish high priority for GIS map and analysis requests.
Assist in establishing and maintaining GIS database quality control and quality assurance procedures.
Provide support of integration between GIS and other non-spatial applications such as SAP.
Uphold GIS system integrity, security and confidentiality.
Exchange information and communicate as necessary with others.
Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Education, Skills & Experience

Minimum educational requirement of two years (or 60 credit hours) completed towards a bachelor’s degree in Geography or GIS-related area, with at least 15 credit hours of relevant upper division coursework.
Minimum GPA of 3.0.
Must commit to 12-13 week duration of the summer internship from May 20th until August 9th.
This internship will take place onsite; hours will be M-F 7:30am-4:30pm.
Knowledge of and experience with ArcGIS Desktop and/or ArcGIS Pro.
Knowledge of the following technology systems: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office and/or Office 365, file and data storage techniques and systems, GPS data collection techniques, and GIS systems.
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated analytical, cartographic mapping, spatial analysis, and problem-solving skills with great attention to detail.
Ability to work independently with time spent outdoors for field duties.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and continuously meet WaterOne driving standards.
Must pass post offer medical exam, including drug screen and background verification.

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience

Knowledge and experience with engineering design technologies such as AutoCAD
Experience using high-precision “survey-grade” GPS equipment.

2024 Summer Distribution Engineering Intern

WaterOne is searching for a talented, creative, and eager-to-learn Engineering Intern for our Distribution Engineering department. This unique, paid-internship will provide an excellent opportunity for you to gain real world experience by assisting the Distribution Engineering Staff on a multitude of exciting projects that impact the world’s most valuable resource – water!

You will play a crucial role in project plan development design, installation and maintenance of buried piping infrastructure. This excellent opportunity gives you the chance to learn from our experts in the field, show your stuff, and be hands-on with a leader in the water production and distribution industry.

Pay rate is $20.00 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform project design and drafting duties including the following:

Applies engineering fundamentals and established design practices in assisting to develop and implement project plans and construction.
Provide sketches and technical information and assistance for preparation of engineering drawings for construction or modifications of facilities, assist in creating engineering sketches, drawings, concepts and descriptions for new construction, relocation of and installation of buried piping infrastructure.
Gather information from other utilities, engineering firms, etc.
Creates work orders, estimates material and labor costs, reviews construction plans and plots water facilities thereon.
Assist in selection of materials and equipment for projects. Read and/or create plans including elevations, sections, cutaways, details, etc.
Apply knowledge of engineering in preparation of designs.
Create and/or analyze sketches and notes and other input material to determine best approach to complete projects.

Performs field duties including:

Operating instruments and equipment for surveying, pressure and flow measurements.
Attend meetings regarding projects.
Assist WaterOne crews in relocation and installation of buried piping infrastructure.
Investigate low and high pressure customer inquiries. Provide information of technical aspects of water pressure/plumbing problems and solutions with customers.
Assist Project Engineers in design of distribution facilities by obtaining field information, elevations, etc. of existing water facilities mains and appurtenances.
Assist Project Engineers with pressure monitoring programs and corrosion protection programs.

Performs general office duties including:

Writes specifications, memos, and letters.
Exchange information and communicate as necessary with others.
Assist in performing hydraulic calculations using sound engineering practices.
Coordinate projects to comply with relocation agreements and memo contracts and reconcile actual costs.

2024 Summer Communications Intern

CAD-CAM Programmer (Drafting Technician I)

Industrial Painter

Harris Fabrication is looking for an industrial painter to join our team! Qualified candidates will be responsible for applying finishes to various metal fabrications per print or blueprint specs provided. These coatings vary based on the needs of each customer, although we frequently use paint and powder coat applications. Any experience you may have with chemical safety and environmental procedure is a major plus. Sand blasting and finishing experience with different types of metal is also helpful.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

-Responsible for mixing paints, matching colors, preparing surfaces, and applying paint to these surfaces.
-May perform touch-ups or coordinate large painting projects.
-Strong background in powder coating and industrial painting.
-Strong attention to detail.
-Grinds, files, or sands surfaces of metal items using hand tools, power tools, and knowledge of metal finishing techniques.
-Examines and feels surface of metal to detect defects, such as dents, scratches, or breaks in welds.
-Smooths surface of item to specified finish, using hand tools and powered tools.

CAD Drafter/Designer

Harris Fabrication is looking for CAD Drafters/Designers to supplement our drafting team. The CAD Drafter/Designer is primarily responsible for technical CAD work in preparing structural steel and sheet metal design and layout of fabrication details for our fabricators and welders.

Major Duties:

-Uses 3D modeling software to create customers’ projects virtually.
-Ensures model critical dimensions are accurate and reflect the customer’s prints and verifies accuracy of the models.
-Creates detailed shop drawings from 3D models and communicates to shop personnel regarding construction.
-Prints and organizes paper and electronic copies of shop drawings to allow easy assembly for shop personnel.
-Creates DXF files for laser-cut parts.
-Creates STP files for beam processor parts.
-Reviews projects, determines material quantities required for projects, and assists -Sales Department with estimates.
-Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-Graduation from High School or GED equivalent required.
-Graduation from an accredited Technical School Program or an Associates of Technology Degree in CAD Technology preferred.
-Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience with building CAD design, with Mechanical, Structural, Sheet Metal, and Fabrication knowledge as an inclination is preferred.
-Strong math and analytical skills and attention to detail.
-Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Windows, Outlook)
-Working knowledge and direct experience with Solid Edge, Solid Works, AutoCad 3D, and/or Inventor. Tekla experience is a plus.

Collision Refinishing Technician

∙Minimum 2 years experience in auto body repair and/or refinishing.
∙Attention to detail and ensuring we deliver quality work
∙Understanding proper mixing of paint and steps to ensure quality work
∙Knows how to prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding and applying primer
∙Understands proper paint mixing, coloring matching and proper paint application
∙Ensures proper paint coverage and a smooth finish.
∙Multitasking skills
∙Ability to read a work order and ask for clarification, when needed.
∙Keeps their work area clean and organized
∙Ability to lift over 50lb+ and perform physical tasks
∙Reliability and punctuality
∙Good communication skills
∙Understanding proper usage and disposal of hazardous materials
∙Good team work with other technicians to ensure quality workmanship for our customers
∙Ability to work with deadlines.
