This person will be responsible for:

Supporting both Lot Maintenance and the Machine Shop through servicing, troubleshooting, repair, installation and fabrication activities.

Day to day preventive, corrective, deferred and/or emergency maintenance of the feedlot facilities and equipment, including, but not limited to the feed mill, sprinkler systems, processing barn, water wells, etc.

Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

Position mission:
This position is responsible for the skilled work in the repair and modification of diesel and gas-powered construction equipment, heavy and light trucks, and automobiles.

Major Duties:

Diagnose mechanical defects in pickup trucks, automobiles, dump trucks, tractors, motor graders, cranes, mowers, street sweepers, forklifts, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, excavators, and other diesel and gas- powered construction equipment
Determine extent of needed repair
Inspect used parts to determine the cause of mechanical failures and evaluate whether parts are still usable or need to be replaced
Overhaul, repair and adjust engines, standard and automatic transmissions, air and hydraulic brake systems, clutches, differentials, axles and suspension, ignition and electrical systems, computerized and electronic ignition systems, steering and control systems and generators
Perform instrumentation repair
Repair and replace tracks on bulldozers
Grind, seat and adjust values
Rebuild hydraulic pumps
Repair electronically controlled devices on power shovels and other heavy equipment
Adjust and repair loader bucket assemblies
Welding parts and equipment as needed
Use a wide variety of test equipment and shop tools
Overhaul exhaust systems
Make emergency repairs in the field
Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment and trucks
Change and repair tires
Additional duties as required
Qualifications:

3 years’ experience performing duties listed above
Must have a valid drives license
Ability to use hand and power tools safely
Ability to read and understand technical service manuals
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
Ability to work cooperatively with others
Ability to recognize and report defects or malfunctions, upon inspection
Ability to distinguish colors, such as color-coded wires and the color of fluids

Primary Responsibilities:
• Safely operate ready mix truck by complying with DOT regulations to deliver concrete to customers, using the most efficient route as directed by the Dispatcher or Plant Manager.
• Complete pre and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure that all DOT standards are met, such as air brakes, oil, water, tire inflation, proper lighting, permits, safety kit, logbook updated, etc. Record and ensure the supervisor is aware of any maintenance issues that would inhibit work production or create safety concerns.
• Understand the differences between different mix designs and be able to visually inspect the mix for proper materials, verify the load size to the ticket, check for the proper slump, and make appropriate adjustments.
• Complete wash down at job site according to location the customer directs. Complete drum rinse upon returning to plant and perform required drum chipping.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally and courteously with customers to complete delivery and collect payment.
• Maintain vehicles, plant, and shop to promote a clean, organized, and safe workplace including performing regular maintenance on Redi-Mix trucks and other equipment.
• Complete all required paperwork with the use of tablets or cell phones to ensure proper accounting and timekeeping practices are executed (pre-trip inspections, time reporting, truck reports, trip tickets, etc.).
• Team player mentality and eagerness to cross-train on topics such as dispatching, batching, mechanics, etc.
