Nurse/Paramedic

Medial Staff Associate

Responsibilities:
• Under general supervision, responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures
• Provides limited emergency medical care to donors and staff including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification
• Interviews donors and performs medical history reviews to obtain necessary information to determine suitability to donate plasma
• In conjunction with the Center Medical Director, responds to medically related questions and provides information to staff on donor suitability
• Reviews test results and determines continued donor suitability; assesses donor symptoms that may result in the inability to continue donating
• Notifies and counsels donors regarding reactive test results; refers donors to community facilities for follow-up and counseling
• Provides routine care following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); escalates critical medical situations to Center Physician or local medical service providers as required

Report and, when appropriate, document, any change observed in a resident’s condition or behavior to the Charge Nurse.
Assist in the care of dying residents; provide post-mortem care.
Administer professional services such as; catheterization, tube feedings, suction, applying and changing dressings/bandages, packs, colostomy, and drainage bags, taking blood, etc., as required.
Perform lab tests, blood pressures, and other routine monitored as required per the resident care plan.
Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter-departmental personnel, as well as other departments within the facility to ensure that nursing services and activities can be adequately maintained to meet the needs of the residents.
Complete required documentation of care and services as they are provided.
Review complaints and grievances made or filed by your assigned personnel. Make appropriate reports to the Nurse Supervisor as required or as may be necessary. Follow facility’s established procedures.

This Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position is responsible for delivering nursing care to people who live at Kansas Neurological Institute. Nursing care includes delivering medications, tube feedings, treatments and direct care. Works under the direction of the RN’s and Physicians.

Compensation: LPN – $20.13/hour, PRN LPN – $21.12/hour.

Experience: Less than one year of experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office, dermatology experience preferred.

Other Requirements: Current CPR certification and current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).

PRN employees are expected to work a minimum of one (1) day per month.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The Kansas Neurological Institute is seeking compassionate and caring Licensed Professional Nurses to support, lift, guide, and teach Certified Medication and Nursing Assistants, as well as conduct resident evaluations and assessments. The ideal candidate will be organized, extremely good with time management, compassionate and dedicated patient advocate. Our nursing staff monitor and tend to chronic and acute medical conditions campus-wide and gives/monitors/supervises medication administration. A floor nurse alternates weekend schedules and is often offered overtime. There is room for growth within KNI, including supervisory positions for LPNs. Openings are available on all shifts.

The Kansas Neurological Institute (KNI) is an intermediate care facility offering support to over 125 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
