2024 Summer Facilities Engineering Intern

WaterOne is searching for talented, creative, and eager-to-learn Engineering Interns for our Facilities Engineering department. This unique, paid-internship will provide an excellent opportunity for you to gain real world experience by assisting the Facilities Engineering Staff on a multitude of exciting projects that impact the world’s most valuable resource – water!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Project Engineers in the design and inspection of production and other facilities.

Provide detailed sketches, technical information, and assistance for preparation of engineering drawings for construction or modifications of facilities.
Gather information from other utilities, engineering firms, and other resources as assigned.
Conduct research to help develop project cost estimates.
Inspect construction work to determine compliance with standards of accuracy and quality as directed.
Review manufacturer’s drawings and manuals for accuracy and compliance with WaterOne specifications.
Operate instruments and equipment for surveying and for pressure and flow measurements.
Attend meetings regarding projects as assigned.
Write specifications, memos, and letters as assigned.
Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Education, Skills & Experience

Minimum educational requirement of reaching sophomore status towards degree in engineering, with minimum of 15 credit hours completed of coursework in mathematics and engineering sciences (hydraulics, mechanical systems, concrete and steel design, electrical controls and circuits, and land surveying preferred)
Must commit to 12-13 week duration of the summer internship from May 20th until August 9th.
This internship will take place onsite; hours will be M-F 7:30am-4:30pm.
Demonstrated capability for good judgment, initiative, sound planning and analytical skills.
Requires good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Requires the ability to read plans and specifications.
Must be able to apply applicable safety standards pertaining to engineering and construction work, including, but not limited to, excavation safety, traffic safety, and the use of personal protective equipment.

2024 Summer GIS Intern – Mapping and Drafting

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Compile, attribute, convert, edit and maintain data in geographic and operational databases and their associated documentation.

CAD-CAM Programmer (Drafting Technician I)

Harris Fabrication is looking to hire a CAD-CAM Programmer to join our drafting team! As our programmer, you will be responsible for nesting flat steel parts on the laser, structural steel parts on the beam processor, and offline programming of press brake and machining equipment.

CAD Drafter/Designer

Harris Fabrication is looking for CAD Drafters/Designers to supplement our drafting team. The CAD Drafter/Designer is primarily responsible for technical CAD work in preparing structural steel and sheet metal design and layout of fabrication details for our fabricators and welders.

Major Duties:

-Uses 3D modeling software to create customers’ projects virtually.
-Ensures model critical dimensions are accurate and reflect the customer’s prints and verifies accuracy of the models.
-Creates detailed shop drawings from 3D models and communicates to shop personnel regarding construction.
-Prints and organizes paper and electronic copies of shop drawings to allow easy assembly for shop personnel.
-Creates DXF files for laser-cut parts.
-Creates STP files for beam processor parts.
-Reviews projects, determines material quantities required for projects, and assists -Sales Department with estimates.

Qualifications:

-Graduation from High School or GED equivalent required.
-Graduation from an accredited Technical School Program or an Associates of Technology Degree in CAD Technology preferred.

Drafter

The purpose the Drafter role is to prepare and create detailed schematics, layouts, blueprints, and other miscellaneous technical exhibits using computer-aided design (CAD) software for use in the manufacturing of Stuppy products and to synthesize input such as manufacturing specifications, detailed notes from other engineering team members for use in the production process.

Essential Functions:

Provide various types of engineering renderings such as blueprints, drawings, maps, graphs, charts for use by the production team and in accordance with project and material specifications.
Partner with Engineers to complete drawing request during the design and greenhouse construction assembly processes.
Produce drawings, designs and layouts according to materials and engineering specifications inherent to the production of Stuppy goods and services.
Assist the production team in interpreting technical drawings and exhibits for use in the creation of prototypes.
Resolves basic interpretive misunderstanding and answers technical questions attendant to the production process.

Experience:

Post high school education or accreditation at either a trade or vocational school, internship, or community college or equivalent experience.
0-2 years of experience as a drafter using CAD and 3-D modeling tools

Revit/AutoCAD Drafting Technician

Position Summary:
Latimer, Sommers & Associates, P.A. (LSA) is seeking a Drafting Technician for its Topeka, KS and Overland Park, KS locations. Members of LSA’s drafting team translate the engineers’ designs into consistent, easy-to-read construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit software programs. The documents produced provide clarity for building contractors and are a key element in the bidding process. Maintenance Supervisor

Adams Land & Cattle has an exciting leadership opportunity for someone to oversee our Maintenance department. Physical Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS
· Certification in Revit design or experience
· Design experience on Commercial, Industrial, educational, and/or medical Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing building systems
· AutoCAD/Revit experience required
· Knowledge in building codes
· Effective interpersonal skill and collaborative management style to include teamwork and team building ability
· Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work as part of a team to develop Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Designs for Commercial buildings.
· Site surveys to assess, evaluate, and document existing conditions
· Maintain and archive electronic project files
· Attend project meetings as required
· Participate in team mentoring activities
· Coordination with architectural and other engineering disciplines as applicable
· Client contact as required for Design and Site Observation (Travel may be required)
· Working under the direct supervision of a Project Manager or Principal in Charge (PM/PIC)
