CAD Technician

Job Description:

The contract CAD Technician provides document management support for Substation Engineering. Under the guidance of the Document Manager, the contract CAD Technician assists the Engineering Analysts by revising existing drawings from as-built field corrections and, after training, by updating Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages. Documents include internal Evergy drawings, external vendor drawings and supporting documents. After additional training, the position will assist the Engineering Tech to liaison between engineering and field personnel who construct or maintain company facilities and to:
·Create and publish new Issued for Construction drawing packages.
·Gather technical information and up-to-date drawings for projects.
·Create new 3D material coded parts for electrical substation models.
·Use the Autodesk Vault 3D parts library to create 3D substation models.
·Generate drawings based on one-line and substation standards drawings.
Contract CAD Technician work is performed in an office. Travel is not required, however, optional field visits are available as a training opportunity

CAD Technician

The CAD Technician performs daily drafting and minimal design functions for in-house Civil Engineering design projects. The technician assists the on-staff engineers by preparing plans for construction projects that include transportation, traffic, stormwater, sanitary sewer, and water mains. The technician also assists staff and the public in acquiring maps and records maintained by the office, formulates charts, and develops graphic materials.

Essential Functions

– Prepare plans and process field data for City of Manhattan improvement projects. – Create civil engineering CAD exhibits/schematic drawings, construction drawings, and presentation boards.
– Contribute to the overall preparation of project designs by performing essential drafting and limited design.
– Draw accurate and understandable civil engineering drawings while adhering to CAD standards as established by the City.
– Read and interpret constructions plans and other written technical material in order to prepare construction plans and update “as-built” drawings (approx. 18 projects per year) and existing maps, including but not limited to planning, utility, and any other applicable maps.
– Research and apply applicable codes and standards related to design.
– Summarize information from maps, reports, field and file investigations, and books. May generate maps and other graphics to allow viewers to visualize and understand results of analysis or simulations of potential designs.
– Prepare and maintain a digital and hard copy archive of plans, plats and miscellaneous drawing files by documenting maps, plans, drawings and then indexing with proper labeling, cataloging, and filing for future retrieval.
– Remain updated on developments within the CAD industry including data shortcuts, databases, insertion of topographic field data, creation of existing ground surfaces, utilization of pipe networks, and creation of alignments/profiles/cross sections.

Project Design Technician

IAC is a world leader in the pneumatic conveying and bulk material handling industry. We are looking for motivated, talented individuals to join our post-contract project management team. Entry level industry experience is accepted, training will be provided to familiarize with pneumatic conveying equipment and methods. Strong understanding of industrial automated equipment is preferred, 2D AutoCAD proficiency is required.

Project Design Technician reports to the Bulk Material Handling Department Operations Manager. In this role you will be utilizing AutoCAD to create layout drawings for active customer projects. Other duties will include Process & Instrumentation Diagram generation, complete project management, equipment design and procurement, and project commissioning.

Primary Responsibilities
• Complete system layout drawings and generate installation detail drawings
• Manage purchasing and procurement of buyout components
• Facilitate accurate and timely equipment design and fabrication
• Generate Process and Instrumentation Diagram of associated systems
• Lead shipping, installation, and system startup efforts

Additional Requirements
• Ability to quickly learn and absorb training materials
• 2D AutoCAD proficiency
• Solid PC skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite tools, namely Word and Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Deadline oriented
• Strong organizational skills, ability and willingness to adapt to changing customer demands

Our Kansas group office is seeking to hire an entry-level technologist to provide support with bridge inspection and construction inspection. The ideal candidate will confidently produce detailed documentation and will possess excellent coordination and follow-up skills.

The Impact You Will Have:
Review applicable construction standards, regulations and contract requirements necessary for the completion of assigned tasks
Coordinate design and layout with applicable code requirements
Assist with design calculations
