Designer I, Production Engineering

Your responsibilities

To develop designs for the production of standard and customized pneumatic conveying equipment to meet project’s requirements for production and customer.

Essential Job Functions:

Expedite drafting of equipment drawings for engineers, production and customers according to the specs provided by other team members and or sales. Ensure accuracy of drawings and design to match Schenck Process’s production capabilities. Determine which views will best communicate design.

Create, Revise and enter part numbers and Bills of Materials for standardized & custom-engineered jobs.

Investigate and interpret any incomplete or obscure data needed to properly complete engineering process for any given project. Must use product knowledge to recognize when a project is missing parts or inaccurate and then decide upon the best methodology to correct.

Your qualifications:

In-depth knowledge of AutoCAD drafting techniques
Ability to provide accurate production drawings from sketches, red lined drawings or revisions from engineering or sales
Data Entry skills to enter Bills of Materials
Basic math skills in algebra and trigonometry
General personal computer skills in WORD & Excel
Basic Knowledge of equipment design and manufacturing techniques preferred.

Drafter

CERTUS Structural Engineers is currently hiring an AutoCAD designer / drafter position in their Topeka, Kansas structural engineering office. Ideal candidates will have relevant experience with AutoCAD and Revit. References required.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Produce shop drawings, assembly drawings, and erection drawings
Prepare calculations based on project requirements
Analyze, design, and select appropriate member connections for projects
Submit requests for information (RFIs) to customers
Provide final checks of drawings to ensure compliance with contract documents

Qualifications & Experience:
Associate degree in drafting or similar education
Experience with Auto/CAD and/or Tekla preferred
Knowledge of miscellaneous metals
Knowledge of current building codes and regulations
Must be able to successfully complete all post-offer and pre-employment contingencies
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

CAD Technician

Pendulum’s CAD Technician will aid our architects and designers in drafting and the technical drawings for our projects in the concept-construction document phases. The technician will be extremely detail-oriented, able to work quickly and pivot from project to project without issue. Ideally, the technician will be knowledgeable in architectural vocabulary and a wide variety of technical building types, ranging from large, complex sports facilities to smaller, hospitality-driven spaces.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

 Creating surface and solid CAD models according to client specifications
 Ensure compliance with quality standards in CAD drawings
 Redesign drawings according to markups and specifications
 Translate and convert hand drawings and sketches into CAD systems
 Read, evaluate, and interpret technical designs and drawings
 Inputting design specifications into the CAD software
 ensure drawings are compliant with industry and health and safety standards and protocols
 calculate costs and apply knowledge of materials and engineering principles to check the feasibility of manufacture and construction of the product
 conduct site visits and surveys when required

Drafter Designer

Adecco is recruiting for a direct hire position in a major manufacturing facility in Topeka. Day shift hours. This great new position is responsible for preparation of drawings using specifications provided by clients and customers while applying industry standards.
Job Responsibilities include:
Developing sketches, drawings and part models from design sketches or other drawings.
Revising existing drawings, both CAD and manually created.
Checking dimensions of parts and materials to be used in relationship of various parts to the whole machine or project.
Creating equipment manuals for manufacturing machines.
Developing new part designs and improvements to existing designs.

Qualifications:
Technical school certification in Auto CAD or SolidWorks or Associates Degree in Drafting required.
Bachelor’s in Engineering or a related field is preferred.
Minimum two (2) years of work experience with CAD is preferred.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, machinery
and assembly.
Skilled in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and SolidWorks or similar modeling software.
Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.

Security Technician

The Sheriff’s Office is seeking a highly qualified and motivated candidate for a Security Technician.

Serves as a subject matter expert in the design, installation, maintenance and repair of various electronic systems that ensure the safety and security of individuals and facilities; facilitates the integration of systems to maximize their effectiveness for business needs; determines electronic system specifications and sequencing needs when designing and/or integrating systems; researches, recommends and implements electronic system upgrades and solutions that meet Federal, State and local security and safety requirements; provides input on capital and on-going security operating budget; develops metrics and testing to gauge effectiveness of security program and systems; coordinates and conducts regular testing of physical security hardware and systems; reviews security assessments of facilities to identify areas of vulnerability and coordinates corrective actions for identified security risks; provides routine briefings on matters relating to overall physical security.

Performs various tasks requiring equipment, vehicle, and tool operation; uses a variety of small and large tools and operates a variety of light and medium duty equipment and attachments; ensures that card readers allow access to authorized personnel only; troubleshoots and repairs card reader units and programming; implements tone and voice announcement mechanisms to ensure open communication in the case of an emergency; determines and maximizes the coverage area of emergency duress systems; modifies emergency duress systems to provide additional protection and security for employees and visitors.

Familiarity with a wide range of tasks and technologies related to security systems, to include pulling cable, installing various devices to include glass breaks, motion detectors, magnetic locks, card readers, and cameras, programming security / access systems, low voltage background; tests, troubleshoots, and inspects systems.

Reviews contractor specifications to ensure the integrity of the systems; oversees and/or participates in the installation of new electronic systems; escorts vendors performing contracted services within secure areas; reviews work and provides guidance regarding quality expectations and deficiencies to ensure contractors accomplish bid specifications; assists with review of new and remodel construction documents, submittals, specifications integration, installation, approval and accreditation of facilities, equipment, and security documentation.

Performs system back-ups to maintain a recorded history of entrance to the facility, lock operation, closed circuit television to comply with policies and procedures; archives and retrieves back-ups; creates electronic system reports for maintenance requirements; maintains system inspection documentation; uses computer aided design (CAD) to document electronic systems; maintains documentation of all electronic system plans/changes; and maintains an adequate inventory of parts.

Job Requirements
Three (3) years of specialized trade experience in design, installation and maintenance of electronic security related systems, including intercom systems, fire alarms, emergency duress, closed circuit TV, card access, and locking control systems. High school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office requires an extensive background screening for all positions, including polygraph and drug screen.

Preferred: Vo-Tech Certification or Associate’s Degree in field(s) of electrical, mechanical, facility maintenance, or relevant field of study.

CAD/Revit Technician

Engineering Technician Series Req 203638

This position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building within the Bureau of Traffic Engineering. This position serves as an Engineering Technician Associate in the Permanent Signing Unit. This position exists to assist more experienced staff and the Permanent Signing Engineer in completing tasks that the unit is responsible for.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Develop skills to become a proficient Technician and advance to an Engineering Technician (ET) in the Permanent Signing Unit. The employee will have 1 year to complete the requirements outlined in the ET Progression Manual to gain ET status.
Participate in formal classroom training as it becomes available, one-on-one training by staff in the unit and on-the-job training by completing work assignments.
Become exposed to and learn how to use manuals such as the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices, Kansas Highway Sign Manual, among other policy manuals.
