Berry’s Engineering Interns are proactive, curious, and dependable team members. You’ll take the lead on assigned projects aimed at improving plant efficiency and shaped by your unique perspective. This position will comprise of approximately 75% desk/computer work and 25% hands-on work in the production area. Daily workload will vary based on department needs and your interests, focusing on safety and quality. **The Facilities Project Engineering Intern will work onsite at the Lawrence, KS facility beginning Summer 2025 and is intended to be year-round. This position is expected to work up to 40 hours/week during summer break and <20 hours/week while classes are in session or as determined by the Hiring Manager. Relocation is not available for this position. Only local candidates will be considered**

RESPONSIBILITIES
– Apply general engineering principles to capital projects aimed at reducing costs and improving facility infrastructure and safety.
– Navigate materials system access software to update and maintain records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Company regulations.
– Engage with team members at all levels to inform new projects, prioritizing end-user functionality and feasibility of maintenance activities.
– Work closely with essential infrastructure elements including HVAC, compressed air, and chilled water systems.
– Assist in the design and implementation of molding tethering projects to enhance efficiency and product quality.
– Develop project plans and schedules; assist in estimating timing and costs, determining resource constraints, running feasibility studies, and identifying success metrics.
– Regularly report on project progress and challenges, collaborating with team members to create contingency plans and resolve issues.
– Embrace a team player mentality by approaching all assigned tasks with consideration and positive intent, regardless of scope.
– Provide general support to the Facility Maintenance department.
– Contribute to Company-wide Safety, Quality, and Productivity goals.

QUALIFICATIONS
– Currently enrolled college student with relevant coursework in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
– Mechanical Engineering majors strongly preferred
– Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
– Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
– Strong organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
– Aptitude for and interest in mechanics, machinery, and technically challenging work
– Familiarity with and confidence in using basic hand tools and measurement instruments
– Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
– Exposure to and experience with CAD (SolidWorks) preferred
– 10+ hours/week of work availability during the school year strongly preferred

Berry’s Process Technicians oversee the operations and quality of an assigned Thermoform line. They ensure the line is running at peak efficiency, focusing on safety and quality. The Process Technician Intern will receive the basic training needed to assist full-time Process Technicians with their assigned Thermoform line. Daily workload will regularly consist of recording key aspects, checking parts for quality defects, and assisting/overseeing Operator duties. RESPONSIBILITIES
– Diagnose and resolve core process issues while managing symptoms to maintain functionality and production levels.

Job Summary
The Equipment Service Technician is responsible for performing mechanical services on all cold drink equipment. The Technician maneuvers the equipment to troubleshoot and perform the required fix. Technicians also provide preventative maintenance services.

Job Responsibilities
Troubleshoots and repairs equipment in the field to keep in proper operating condition. Maintains positive customer relationships with effective communication.
Maintains and completes required work tickets in the hand-held equipment.
Ensures vehicle has accurate and appropriate levels of parts inventory by practicing Kaizen initiatives; this includes ordering new supplies, performing bi-annual inventory audits, and keeping vehicle clean and organized.
Builds successful cross-functional relationships with Planning, Sales, and Customers by creating open lines of communication for all parties and coordinating activities effectively.
Complies with safety standards: maintains safe work area, complies with safety standards, completes daily stretches and assigned safety training, and utilizes all PPE (personal protective equipment).
Physical Requirements

Operations Assistant

Facilities Technician
