2025 Summer Fire Hydrant Auditor Internship

Summary/Objective
The purpose of this position is to assist in the auditing of fire hydrants which includes flushing, operating, maintaining and recording pertinent information about the hydrant and applicable water valves.

Essential Functions

• Assists in maintaining truck inventory and in servicing, repair, or replacement of equipment and tools assigned to truck.
• Keeps trucks and equipment clean and well organized.
• Locates and records ties on new and existing water facilities manually and/or by using GPS equipment.
• Performs tests on branch valve and operates fire hydrants to determine if the hydrant is in proper working condition. Records inspection information daily and can use electronic device to record and download data.
• Operates hand and power tools and other equipment as needed.

Other Duties
• Reads and interprets WaterOne maps. Uses GIS mapping system, computer and GPS equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

2025 Summer Grounds Maintenance Internship

Summary/Objective
The purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining the appearance of the grounds throughout WaterOne.

This person will be responsible for:

Working safely in shop and feedlot environments, following all company safety guidelines.

Working with Machine Services/Lot Maintenance teams on a diverse range of projects, from build, to repair, rebuild and retrofit of production assets, including feedlot facilities (processing, feed mill, fencing, water and sprinkler systems) and equipment (feed and straight trucks, heavy equipment, tractors).

Performing skilled work in welding, cutting, shaping and machining accurately and precisely, using welding and machining equipment.

Set-up, adjustment and operation of the following machining equipment: mills and lathes.

Using project plans, blue prints, job specifications and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product.

Inspecting and testing final product for conformance to quality standards and/or blueprint specifications.

Performing related material handling duties.

Coordinating ordering of required welding materials, such as rods, gas and metals.

Maintaining accurate parts use and/or other records.

Cleaning and maintaining the shop work area.

Cleaning and performing preventative maintenance (PM) and general repairs on utilized welding/machining equipment.

Communicating with engineering, supervisory, production services and feedlot personnel to effectively exchange technical information.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Complete thorough Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services on all standard package and split unit HVAC systems that are common among Central’s commercial customers including but not limited to: inspection and repair/replacement of belts and pulleys, inspection and cleaning of condensate drain lines, testing power/performance of compressor, fan motor, blower motor, testing function and safety of burners/heat exchangers, function of all safety and operational controls.
General repairs of steam/hot water boiler systems. Diagnose airflow and ducting repairs.
Safe, efficient, and EPA compliant use of refrigerants in support of standard package and split unit HVAC systems that are common among EFO’s light commercial customers.
Safely diagnose and repair common mechanical, electrical, or system failure issues on standard boiler, package and split unit HVAC systems that are common among EFO’s light commercial customers, including but not limited to: belts, pulleys, compressors, condensing units, circuity boards, contactors, leaks, safely un-sweating and brazing of copper components.
Complete preventative maintenance and repairs per work order requirements. Self performs the following duties in compliance company procedures, regulatory requirements, and safety standards.
Perform minor plumbing maintenance on existing systems (e.g. unclog toilets and drains, repair leaks in drains and faucets, replace toilets and faucet fixtures as needed, etc.)
Perform minor electrical maintenance as allowed without a license within state law requirements (e.g. repair or replacement of fixtures, wall switches, and outlets. Replace light bulbs, ballasts and sockets if necessary)
Complete service inspections and asset inspections as needed
Fully utilizes technology (tablet, smartphone)
Access and complete work orders including notes on services provided
Create and submit Service Reports and Quality Inspection images and reports
Submit timesheets, expense reports, and purchase card logs
Creates a positive climate with the client, provides and generates customer satisfaction. Maintains timely and consistent communications with customer and internal support teams
Obtains and completes required safety and compliance training and attends weekly safety meetings

Qualifications:

HS diploma or Degree/Certification, or equivalent professional experience in Landscaping, Trades (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, etc.) preferred.
5 years HVAC/General Maintenance experience including electrical, plumbing, carpentry required; or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described including related work experience in one or more of the building trades.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions including, but not limited to, safety policies and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in individual and small group situations.

Job Summary

Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic

Position mission:
This position is responsible for the skilled work in the repair and modification of diesel and gas-powered construction equipment, heavy and light trucks, and automobiles.

Major Duties:

Diagnose mechanical defects in pickup trucks, automobiles, dump trucks, tractors, motor graders, cranes, mowers, street sweepers, forklifts, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, excavators, and other diesel and gas- powered construction equipment

Repair electronically controlled devices on power shovels and other heavy equipment
Adjust and repair loader bucket assemblies
Welding parts and equipment as needed
Use a wide variety of test equipment and shop tools
Overhaul exhaust systems
Make emergency repairs in the field
Perform routine maintenance and servicing of equipment and trucks
Change and repair tires
Additional duties as required
Qualifications:

3 years’ experience performing duties listed above
Must have a valid drives license
Ability to use hand and power tools safely
Ability to read and understand technical service manuals
Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions
Ability to work cooperatively with others
Ability to recognize and report defects or malfunctions, upon inspection
Ability to distinguish colors, such as color-coded wires and the color of fluids
Ability to perform tasks that require manual dexterity such as welding, assembling small parts, and pouring liquids into receptacles
Ability to lift 75 pounds
Ability to reach, kneel, bend, climb, balance and get in and out of equipment safely
