2025 Summer Grounds Maintenance Internship

Summary/Objective
The purpose of this position is to assist in maintaining the appearance of the grounds throughout WaterOne.

Essential Functions

• Performs lawn seeding, sodding, mowing, power raking and trimming of hedges, shrubs and trees.
• Applies fertilizers, insect sprays and weed control sprays.
• Inspects and cleans up grounds before mowing to prevent injury or property damage from debris or hidden objects.
• Sharpens mower blades and performs routine maintenance on lawn equipment.
• Cuts down dead trees and keeps grounds cleared of tree limbs and trash.
• Repairs fences, broken windows and does other needed maintenance work as instructed.
• Performs painting or staining of walls, floors, trim, doors, handrails, pipes, equipment, and other items.
• Inspects equipment such as mowers, tractors and fertilizer machines to insure they are in proper working order.

Other Duties
• Perform all duties pertaining to hazardous waste operations in accordance with all applicable requirements.
• Performs other job duties as assigned.

Machinist/Welder- $5,000 Hiring Bonus

Adams Land and Cattle has an opportunity for a highly motivated and disciplined individual with a high aptitude in mechanics. At times, this individual may be required to assist with other projects in the Maintenance department.

This person will be responsible for:

Working safely in shop and feedlot environments, following all company safety guidelines.

Working with Machine Services/Lot Maintenance teams on a diverse range of projects, from build, to repair, rebuild and retrofit of production assets, including feedlot facilities (processing, feed mill, fencing, water and sprinkler systems) and equipment (feed and straight trucks, heavy equipment, tractors).

Performing skilled work in welding, cutting, shaping and machining accurately and precisely, using welding and machining equipment.

Assembling, fabricating/machining and repairing parts to specifications including taking mechanical fits, welding parts and machining parts.

Set-up, adjustment and operation of the following welding equipment: arc and MIG welding.

Set-up, adjustment and operation of the following machining equipment: mills and lathes.

Using project plans, blue prints, job specifications and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product.

Inspecting and testing final product for conformance to quality standards and/or blueprint specifications.

Performing related material handling duties.

Coordinating ordering of required welding materials, such as rods, gas and metals.

Maintaining accurate parts use and/or other records.

Cleaning and maintaining the shop work area.

Cleaning and performing preventative maintenance (PM) and general repairs on utilized welding/machining equipment.

Communicating with engineering, supervisory, production services and feedlot personnel to effectively exchange technical information.

Responding to emergency or high priority work which may, on occasion, be outside of normal working hours.

Job Responsibilities

Our heavy equipment team operates a broad variety of modern equipment for optimizing the living environment of cattle and to support the other earth moving aspects of a large cattle and farming operation. Operational skills include precision GPS operation of large dirt scrapers and bull dozers, as well as loaders, articulated dump trucks, skid steers, motor graders, tractors, excavators, and backhoes. This is a great opportunity for a critical thinker who enjoys operating equipment. There is an option between a traditional and a rotating 4 days on, then 4 days off schedule.

This person will be responsible for:

Operating various equipment such as loaders, articulated dump trucks, tractors, skid steers, dirt scrapers, grader, and dozers in a safe manner.

Piling manure, loading trucks, hauling manure, drag scraping pens, repairing bunkpads and vet pen areas, cleaning bunkpads, tracking drainways for drying, clearing mounds for cattle comfort, GPS dozing of drainways as needed, etc.

Executing the goals to maintain and repair pens according to the strategy outline by the management team.

Ensuring the quality of pen maintenance and repair workmanship supports the overall lowest cost program by minimizing damage to pens, reducing replacement dirt, and reducing future activity, if possible.

Ensuring that equipment is maintained, greased, washed, and preventive maintenance activities completed in a timely fashion.

Supporting any and all efforts needed during storm recovery.
