Maintenance Supervisor

Adams Land & Cattle has an exciting leadership opportunity for someone to oversee our Maintenance department. The ideal candidate safety-driven with exceptional communication and employee development skills. This position provides the leadership for a broad and diversified group of technicians with responsibilities for the overall maintenance of our operations, which may include such things as fabrication or repair of large industrial equipment, large project support, maintenance of infrastructure systems, steel structures, facilities, fences, and tank systems.

This person will be responsible for:

Supporting/driving the overall safety strategy of the company. Exemplifying safety expectations.

Providing overall leadership of the Maintenance work group. Delegating tasks to appropriate personnel and providing support as needed.

Prioritizing and organizing preventive, corrective, deferred, and/or emergency maintenance of the feedlot facilities and equipment, including, but not limited to the feed mill, sprinkler systems, processing barn, water wells, etc.

Maintaining and repairing feedlot fences and steel structures that sustain optimum cattle welfare and containment.

Maintaining and repairing water tanks, main lines, bunk pads, neck rails, and other facility infrastructure.

Evaluating, designing, modifying, and repairing equipment.

Maintaining equipment to prevent unnecessary downtime by ensuring it is utilized, cleaned, and maintained properly and that all preventative maintenance is completed in a timely fashion.

Ensuring quality and efficient repair work and fabrication for new construction.

Ensuring that the team maintains appropriate logs and records such as Progressive Beef, Manager Plus, etc.

Leading and managing projects specific to the work group, including prioritizing projects, building/managing project timelines, and coordinating resources.

Overseeing the general cleaning of work areas assigned to the work group.

Assisting with budget development.

Approving invoices for cost center expenditures.

Identifying continuous improvement opportunities to enhance company profitability through reduced expenses and/or increased revenue.

Supporting any/all efforts needed during storm recovery, including oversight and execution of daily recovery efforts.

Communication and Leadership:

Leading shift start-up meetings.

Representing the Maintenance team at Monday morning safety meeting.

Communicating and supporting company strategies and changes.

Training and developing new and current team members, while communicating progress and areas of opportunity to management.

Providing ongoing feedback and recognition to team by setting performance objectives and communicating throughout the year on progress.

Driving accountability by working with Org Development and management to facilitate conflict resolution, performance improvement, and corrective actions to the team.

Screening applicants through interview process and hiring applicable candidates.

Working closely with all levels of the organization and promoting effective and positive relationships with other teams.

Building and maintaining external business relationships. Collaborating with external resources.

Mechanic/Diesel Technology Intern

Adams Land & Cattle has an opportunity for individuals looking to gain experience in mechanics and diesel technology by working with our shop team to service and repair our various pieces of agricultural and heavy equipment. The ideal candidate would be action-oriented and a skilled problem solver.

This person will be responsible for:

Completing effective and efficient vehicle/equipment preventative maintenance repairs that maximizes functionality, reliability and longevity.

Cleaning and applying lubricants to equipment/vehicle components.

Replenishing fluids and components on engines and equipment/vehicles.

Assisting with inventory management of lubricants, filters, and parts needed for the maintenance and repair programs.

Completing work orders after every vehicle/equipment service.

Inspecting equipment, vehicles, engines, transmissions, mechanical and electrical components, as well as computer and electronic systems and running diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues.

Conducting minor repairs on all ALCC equipment, resulting in maximum functionality, reliability and longevity. Equipment types include, but are not limited to: feed and other trucks, heavy equipment, tractors, loaders, skid steers, forklifts, ATVs, mowers, vehicles, motors, and generators.

Maintaining shop equipment, shop and parts crib work areas, parts crib inventory, and shop tools in satisfactory condition.

Maintaining all shop facilities (work areas, tools, etc.) in a clean, organized, and professional manner.

Collaborating with internal resources, as appropriate. Building and maintaining strong internal business relationships.

Completing other duties, as assigned.

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

Experience as a mechanic.

Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components of equipment and vehicles.

Aptitude in using various hand tools, precision measurement tools, and shop equipment.

Ability to follow established procedures, read instructions, blueprints, auto cad drawings, etc.

Knowledge of diagnostic methods and systems.

Mechanical Technician

Adams Land & Cattle is seeking a skilled and versatile individual to oversee and execute the maintenance plan of our fully automated feed mill, including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs.

This person will be responsible for:

Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, including motors, variable frequency drives, PLC’s, instrumentation, sensors, and various control systems.

Interpreting basic electrical flows for troubleshooting control systems

Performing electrical work, including attachment of machines to electrical circuits.

Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including pumps, valves, cylinders, and plumbing.

Conducting mill maintenance and repairs to minimize mill downtime, while also driving production and efficiency.

Becoming a “go to” person or “feed mill authority” on a majority of the mill, flaker, and boiler operations and procedures.

Proficiently using test equipment, such as voltmeters and amp meters.

Ensuring systems operate to meet quality regulations and are optimized for efficiency.

Ensuring all mill and flaker inspections are completed to meet timelines.

Completing all necessary documentation and work orders, in addition to quality and production logs and end of day paperwork.

Maintaining a projects list on a weekly basis in order to schedule repair days.

Organizing and maintaining the mill and flaker inventories so parts and supplies are on hand.

Supporting feedlot personnel as needed for maintaining and repairing facilities around the lot.

Operating various welding and torch equipment.

Actively seeking ways to improve efficiency and cost savings.

Working closely with all levels of the organization.

Serving as the on-call contact for nights and weekends; responding to emergency or high priority work which may, on occasion, be outside of normal working hours.
