Asphalt Crew Position

Roller Operator

Reports to: Crew Foreman

I. Purpose of the job:
To safely operate machine that compacts and smoothes hot-mix bituminous paving material and to produce the highest quality pavement possible.

II. Essential functions and responsibilities:
1. Serves as a representative of the company, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration, and discretion in all interactions with other members of the company and with the public.
2. Safely operates the roller, using procedures designed to produce the highest quality pavement possible.
3. Performs appropriate daily machine maintenance, including the monitoring and inspecting of bearings and all other working parts.
4. Moves levers, depresses pedals, turns handwheels, pushes throttle to control and guide machine.
5. Determines speed and direction of machine, based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures, so that ridges are not formed by excessive pressure.
6. Drives machine in successive overlapping passes over surface to be compacted.
7. Monitors roller for unusual noise or vibration and report it to crew foreman.
8. Monitors quality of work being produced by the roller.
9. Work as a team member.

1. Must possess a valid, Kansas Drivers license.
2. Must possess ability to understand and operate the roller.
3. Must possess a working knowledge of company policies and procedures.
4. Must be clear and to the point in conveying information.
5. Must be able to work independently, with minimal guidance and supervision.
6. Must possess interpersonal skills.
7. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with experience and training in construction disciplines.

V. Physical demands:
1. Job requires Medium Work strength rating as defined by the Department of Labor, i.e. exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, or greater than negligible force up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
2. Must possess manual dexterity and physical ability to operate a roller.

VI. Working conditions:
1. Ability to work out-of-town, on remote, ever changing work sites.
2. Ability to work long hours.
3. Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions of heat and cold.

Underground Utilities – Equipment Operator

Responsible for manning equipment in an effective and safe way. This equipment can include trucks, bulldozers, forklifts, bore rigs, front-end loaders, trenchers, hand tools, etc. You must be able to get on and off large equipment safely and efficiently. An equipment operator must also be willing to perform all Laborer jobs tasks.

Laborer job tasks that Equipment Operators must be willing to perform include but are not limited to: Operate hand/power tools, clean & prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces, clean up debris, load & unload construction equipment/materials, direct traffic, etc.

Equipment Operators must be physically fit, hardworking, and able to follow instructions quickly and efficiently. They quickly learn to pay attention to what they are doing, follow safety precautions, and become handy with many kinds of tools. They may work on different crews doing various jobs, so having skills in a number of areas, as well as being able to get along with people, is important.

A valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License is preferred.

Competitive Wages (Starting estimated annual pay $35-42K, paid hourly). Heavy Equipment Operator – $2,500 Hiring Bonus

Adams Land and Cattle is seeking a self-motivated individual to assist with the pen maintenance on the feedlot. This is a great opportunity for a critical thinker who enjoys operating equipment. The schedule for this position is a rotating 4 days on and then 4 days off.

This person will be responsible for:
Operating various equipment such as loaders, articulated dump trucks, tractors, skid steers, dirt scrapers, grader, and dozers in a safe manner.
Piling manure, loading trucks, hauling manure, drag scraping pens, repairing bunkpads and vet pen areas, cleaning bunkpads, tracking drainways for drying, clearing mounds for cattle comfort, GPS dozing of drainways as needed, etc.
Executing the goals to maintain and repair pens according to the strategy outline by the management team.
Ensuring the quality of pen maintenance and repair workmanship supports the overall lowest cost program by minimizing damage to pens, reducing replacement dirt, and reducing future activity, if possible.
Ensuring that equipment is maintained, greased, washed, and preventive maintenance activities completed in a timely fashion.
Supporting any and all efforts needed during storm recovery.
Completing daily activity sheets, load sheets, equipment maintenance logs, etc. in an accurate and timely fashion.
Recognizing that weather conditions may require constant change in activities and that cattle comfort is first and foremost regarding this activity.
Working effectively in a team environment to complete tasks.

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:
Mechanically inclined with working knowledge of large diesel powered equipment.
Demonstration of skills, knowledge, and experience in pen manure management and pen maintenance.
Ability and willingness to learn and operate multiple pieces of equipment as needed to support the team.
Proficient in routine and preventive maintenance of equipment.
Individual must work well in team-oriented environment.
Commitment to safety and quality culture.

Driving a vehicle or piece of equipment up to 95% of the day.
Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally; 10-20 pounds of force constantly. Sitting, twisting, and reaching/handling/grasping frequently; standing, walking, carrying, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling, bending, climbing, stairs, and kneeling/crouching occasionally; crawling rarely.

Parts Inventory Technician

We have an opportunity for an individual with organizational skills to assist with the implementation and organization of our inventory management system in operations. This would be a temporary, full-time position located in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

This person will be responsible for:

Supporting the Adams Land & Cattle Safety Program and exemplifying safety expectations.

Organizing parts storage areas in a clean and safe fashion.

Performing inventory counts for all storage areas.

Ensuring parts are stocked in the correct parts locations.

Assist in determining appropriate parts stocking levels.

Assisting with data entry in the inventory management system (Manager Plus).

Respectfully collaborating with internal and external resources, as appropriate. Building and maintaining strong internal and external business relationships.

Meeting customer service expectations.

Completing other duties, as assigned.

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

Mechanical interest and aptitude.

Understanding of inventory management principles and processes.

Proficient computer skills, including the following programs: Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, reaching/handling/grasping and stairs continuously. Carrying, lifting/lowering, pushing/pulling and kneeling/crouching frequently. Climbing and crawling occasionally.

$15.00-$17.00 per hour

Traffic Control Technician

C.T.C.R., Inc. of Topeka is expanding our team. We are looking to hire highly motivated individuals as Traffic Control Technician Drivers (TCT). Whether it is setting up a safe work zone, working at the shop, loading/unloading trucks or delivering product throughout NE Kansas, these key employees keep our day to day operations on track.
As a Traffic Control Technician Driver, your responsibilities will include:
Setting up a safe work zone that ensures that traffic does not cause a threat to workers and the general traveling public. This involves setting up signs, barrels, barricades, and other approved traffic control devices that will guide the public through a work zone safely.
Takes direction from various road authorities and event planners, as it relates to project work.
Work independently or as part of a traffic control crew.
Operate company vehicles to deliver and remove traffic control devices from job sites.
Performs shop work as required including preparing orders, cleaning and repairing equipment, and general housekeeping.
TCTs don’t mind working outside and have a high regard for safety and excellent customer service. Successful candidates enjoy the physical demands of the position, are highly self-motivated, detailed, and take initiative to get the job done right while managing multiple tasks at once. We provide on-the-job training for the tasks that the TCT will need to perform but we do require the following:
Valid driver s license with an acceptable driving record (as determined by our insurance company)
Able to utilize a GPS device and read a map
Have a smartphone device
Ability to work long hours during Spring/Summer/Fall months
Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and rotate being on-call for occasional after-hour emergencies.
Must have the ability to lift and carry heavy objects (70+ pounds), walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
Must have the ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
Experience performing manual labor
Preferred:
Driving experience in a professional setting
3+ years of overall, consistent work experience
Previous traffic control experience
