Position Summary: This is a technical position advising and assisting computers users in a distributed computing environment. Involves computer hardware and software support on Microsoft Windows and other operating systems with commercial and custom software packages. This includes planning, deploying, and maintaining the agencies PC’s and other related peripherals. This position works with the Help Desk support team to resolve help desk phone calls or request and tracks the resolution to these requests with accuracy and documentation in a help desk ticket database. Requires daily interaction with users experiencing problems and difficulties with Microsoft Windows desktops and laptops and those system’s various applications in an effort to provide resolution to issues andor provide training. Provides feedback on improving the processes and ways IT can be leveraged to improve overall efficiency.
This position will be required to participate in after hours support, based on a rotating schedule between other members of the Help Desk team.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Essential Tasks – User Platform (single user) – hardware; system, utility and office automation software. 1. Help Desk Phone Support. 2. Laptop Mobile Support. 3. Desktop Application Support. 4. Federal Motor Carrier Support. 5. User Training. 6. Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam – Adware support and user authorization application access. 7. Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to ensuring the agency is adequately staffed during and immediately following natural and/or manmade disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and/or acts of terrorism. Assists other employees in the work unit in accomplishing assignments as necessary.

Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent
Licensing: Valid Driver’s License
Minimum Qualifications: Six (6) months advising and assisting computer users in a distributed computing environment. Ability to speak clearly and concisely in person and on the telephone. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with KHP and other state employees. Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to work with people of all skill sets and work in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Prefer 1 to 2 years working with PC’s operating systems of Windows based products. Two years I.T. training resulting in degree, diploma or certification.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must submit to and pass a thorough background investigation and security clearance(s), including fingerprints. Ability to listen, comprehend, respond, speak clearly and concisely verbally and in writing; drive a vehicle, lift computer equipment and other objects up to 30 lbs, bend, kneel, stoop, reach with your body, arms and/or legs, perform repetitive motions with one or more extremity, move in confined areas and sit for long periods of time.
