The purpose of a Maintenance Technician is to maintain conditions of operating equipment. Repair or replacement of failed components, the ability to troubleshoot unknown issues with equipment, and adjust centerline operational output of assigned equipment.

Responsibilities
Perform mechanical and electrical P.M.s on various manufacturing and packaging equipment and electrical panels. Document WO’s/PM’s using computerized maintenance management system.

Troubleshooting and repairing routine electrical and mechanical problems on assigned equipment, conduct preventative maintenance, and support Operations in equipment setup and changeover.
Participate on MSE teams, train operators in AM activities, and conduct Breakdown Analysis.
Own PM systems for the Line, focusing on Maintenance Planning and Scheduling and Breakdown Elimination DMS’s.
Drives results in Planned and Unplanned Downtime, and owns:
Maintain & Repair costs for line.
Planned Maintenance and PM compliance.
Breakdown reduction
Technical expert of related equipment and discuss, coach, and train technicians and operators on this equipment.
Owns Abnormality Handling DMS
Makes business decisions based on quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
Participates in the development and owns portions of the Line’s 90-Day loss-elimination plans.
Represent maintenance team in the daily FMOS meetings. Provides performance data for selected machines and communicates action plans and completed work effectively.

Education & Professional Qualification
Minimum:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:
Associate degree in a technical discipline, preferably in Industrial Maintenance/Technology.

Knowledge/Experience
Technical degree/trade certification or 2 years or equivalent manufacturing technician experience required.
Successful completion of Mars Apprenticeship Program or Co-op.

Minimum:
Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
Ability to troubleshoot ac/dc electrical components including motor starters, switches and sensors found on all assigned equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters and amp probes.
Ability to troubleshoot basic pneumatic and mechanical drive systems at the component level on all assigned equipment, i.e. sorting systems and palletizing robots.
Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support production needs and to conduct multi-task work in a very fast paced work environment
Willingness to develop required technical skills in welding, basic machinist and fabrication/layout skill sets.

Preferred:
Possess an advanced understanding of ac/dc electrical (up to 480-volt 3 phase), hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings in order to solve problems in a timely manner.
Possess PLC/ Instrumentation troubleshooting skills.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent lifting/carrying (10-50 lbs.).
Frequent pushing/pulling (50-200 lbs.).
Frequent handling/gripping/bending/stooping.
Ability to work at elevated heights off a ladder or platform, climb stairs, leaning over equipment.
Ability to stand and / or work on feet for extended periods (minimum eight hours in one shift).

General Summary
Monitors key process control points during production operations. Documents and reports any food safety or quality issues so that corrective actions can be taken.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
• Documents and reports any food safety or quality issues and participates in determination of corrective actions to be taken
• May assist with pre-operational inspection of production plant and equipment and completion or related documentation
• Performs process verification checks at critical food safety and quality points according to the facility’s Food Safety Plan and Quality Plan.
• Participates in determination of corrective actions when verification checks do not meet the limits defined in the facility’s Food Safety Plan and Quality Plan.
• Verifies the facility’s environment including items such as temperature throughout the production facility, sanitizer concentrations and other food safety related conditions.
• Completes Hold Tags and Cooling Tags, if appropriate, to isolate non-conforming ingredients or products.
• Conducts and documents the daily product review; participates in evaluation of key sensory attributes of finished products. • Responsible for maintaining records, completing documentation, following proper documentation protocols as assigned • Adherence and monitor of programs including HACCP Program, good manufacturing practices, foreign material control, plant sanitation, product quality assurance and other programs as assigned • As part of monitoring CCPs (Critical Control Points), must be trained in HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and adhere to approved HACCP plan(s)

Maintenance Technician

Custom Foods is the leading frozen dough manufacturer in De Soto, KS. We employ Great Dough Heroes, and are looking for another person to join our squad! The Maintenance Technician performs routine and preventative maintenance and repairs to ensure food safety, and minor and major repairs of all building equipment and/or supervises licensed workers. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating with the Operations Team to ensure machines are up and running to meeting production schedules. A background in electricity is preferred, though not required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performs preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis. Inspects belts, checks fluid levels, replaces filter, greases bearing, seals etc.
Completes daily, weekly and monthly checks on equipment and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
The maintenance tech is responsible for ensuring all facility repairs are completed in a timely manner.
Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required. Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures and lot numbers.
Assists with renovation/remodeling of building repairs, painting, and new equipment installation.

Education and Experience

Certification in mechanical engineering or a similar field required, OR

Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Good communication skills.

Primary Function:

Fabrication/Industrial Maintenance Technology

Adams Land and Cattle has an opportunity for a highly motivated and disciplined individual with a high aptitude in mechanics. At times, this individual may be required to assist with other projects in the Maintenance department.

This person will be responsible for:

Working safely in shop and feedlot environments, following all company safety guidelines.

Working with Machine Services/Lot Maintenance teams on a diverse range of projects, from build, to repair, rebuild and retrofit of production assets, including feedlot facilities (processing, feed mill, fencing, water and sprinkler systems) and equipment (feed and straight trucks, heavy equipment, tractors).

Performing skilled work in welding, cutting, shaping and machining accurately and precisely, using welding and machining equipment.

Assembling, fabricating/machining and repairing parts to specifications including taking mechanical fits, welding parts and machining parts.

Set-up, adjustment and operation of the following welding equipment: arc and MIG welding.

Set-up, adjustment and operation of the following machining equipment: mills and lathes.

Using project plans, blue prints, job specifications and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product.

Inspecting and testing final product for conformance to quality standards and/or blueprint specifications.

Performing related material handling duties.

Coordinating ordering of required welding materials, such as rods, gas and metals.

Maintaining accurate parts use and/or other records.

Cleaning and maintaining the shop work area.

Cleaning and performing preventative maintenance (PM) and general repairs on utilized welding/machining equipment.

Communicating with engineering, supervisory, production services and feedlot personnel to effectively exchange technical information.

Responding to emergency or high priority work which may, on occasion, be outside of normal working hours.

Recognizing that weather conditions may require change in activities and that cattle comfort is first and foremost regarding this activity.

Evaluating current processes/procedures to recommend changes/modifications for improvements.

Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

Commitment to safety and quality culture.

Welding certificate or a minimum of two years welding experience with arc and MIG welders required.

Machining certificate or a minimum of two years machining experience such as lathe, milling machine, drill press, band saw and any machinist related hand tools required.

Electrical, hydraulic and water system experience preferred.

Ability to read and comprehend blueprints, welding symbols and geometric tolerance/dimensioning.

Experience with precision measurement and calibration, including measuring fits of mating parts.

Basic mathematical skills.

High attention to detail.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.

Ability to work with others to gather and share information and creatively solve challenging problems.

Excellent verbal communication.

Team-oriented.

Vocational/technical diploma/certificate preferred but may substitute diploma/certificate with applicable experience.

This position requires:

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly. Standing, sitting, walking, carrying, and lifting/lowering frequently; pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, reaching/handling/grasping, and kneeling/crouching occasionally; crawling and stairs rarely.

Standing in place continuously at least four-six hours during the workday.

Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions, if needed.

Compensation ranges from $23-$30/hour.
