Forklift Mechanic

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

**PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS FOR A SKILLED, EXPERIENCED MECHANIC**

Minimum of 3 years as a mechanic and or proof of completion at a technical school.
Able to read and understand electrical and hydraulic system schematics
Repair and/or replace major system components including circuit boards and other electrical parts, hydraulic, mechanical, LP system, power steering and transmissions, engines
Troubleshoot and diagnose truck components
Perform engine tune-ups on most forklift makes/models
Troubleshoot and diagnose complex electrical systems on IC and electric trucks
Knowledge of any/all special tools as well as maintain and properly use
Operate service van in a clean, safe, and secure manner following all safety requirements
Demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
Properly identify and order all necessary replacement parts
Attend service training classes offered to maintain knowledge on new products, or for refreshers on products not encountered too often.
Maintain detailed daily work logs via Tinnacity
Communicate with dispatcher and/or service office status of jobs and availability for new jobs.
Identify jobs that should be sent to our shop for repair (due to complexity or safety reasons) and recommend they be sent in.
Develop and maintain relationship with territory sales representatives to keep them informed of sales opportunities you might see.
Competencies:

Forklift mechanic experience preferred
Automotive diagnostic experience
Service technician experience (field mechanic)
Material handling equipment knowledge
Great problem solving and strategic thinking abilities, adaptability, initiative, innovation, dependability, interpersonal skills, orientation to customer service, willingness to provide organizational support, and display close attention to detail.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to quickly learn new software.
An individual should demonstrate analytical and technical skills.
Requirements:

Minimum of 3 years’ service technician experience
High School diploma, G.E.D or tech school graduate preferred
Driving is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license must be maintained at all times.
Must provide your own tools
Metal Fabrication (cutting and welding material)
Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office and IPads (Word, Excel & Outlook)
Must have a positive upbeat attitude and treat all customers and co-workers with the utmost respect.
Physical Demands:

This work is considered heavy physical work, requiring the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Must possess strength, stamina and mobility to perform heavy physical work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Walk, lift, reach, stoop, stand, grasp, balance, climb, kneel and crouch for extended periods of time.
Operate machines, motor vehicles, hand tools and job specific equipment and tools.
