Road Maintenance Operator

Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the operation of trucks and construction equipment. Also performs manual labor related to road maintenance and repair. This is a 24-hour on call position and may require work outside normal business hours.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Perform strenuous manual labor.
•Be available for emergency call in. Required to work additional hours and/or be called to workbased upon the immediate needs of the department, in a proven emergency situation, or asdetermined by the appointing authority.
•Assists in the maintenance and repair of roads, ditches, and signage.
•Operates trucks over 33,000 lbs. GVW and motorized highway and other equipment includinggraders, backhoes, front-end loaders, skid steers, power brooms, rollers, tractors, trailers, tigermowers, and any other road maintenance equipment; and maintains and repairs the above listedequipment.
•Operates the asphalt distributor, including being able to read the gauges for set-up of sprayingasphalt, suck back, cleaning and maintaining after use.
•Operates the lay down machine, including clean up after use.
•Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
•Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using the English language.
•Fills out time, labor and equipment sheets on a daily basis.
•Performs all other duties assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Experience, Education, Licenses/Certification
• Must have a high school diploma, GED or educational equivalent
• Valid CDL Class A license with a tanker endorsement.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two (2) years’ experience in the use of tools, materials, and equipment used in general construction or agriculture.
• Must be twenty-one (21) years of age.
• Driving record that shows: No misdemeanor or felony convictions for traffic/vehicular offenses (DUI, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, hit and run, etc.) on the driving record that are less than five (5) years old; No more than two (2) at fault or chargeable accidents on their driving record that are less than five (5) years old; No more than two (2) traffic infractions (speeding, failure to yield right of way, etc.) that are less than one (1) year old.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends not included in normal work hours
• Ability to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to effectively work with the general public and fellow employees.
• Ability to understand and follow the policies and procedures of Township.
• Ability to fluently speak and read the English language along with the understanding and following of both written and verbal direction.
• Ability to pull, push, move, and/or transport of seventy-five (75) pounds.
• Ability to travel to various locations throughout the Township to fulfill daily tasks.
• Ability to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions while exerting physical effort for long shifts.
• Ability to stand and work over uneven or slippery terrain is required.

OTHER:
• Employee must be able to pass random drug tests authorized by federal and state legislation

Ready-Mix Driver

Job Summary
The Ready-Mix Driver is responsible for operating a commercial heavy truck on public highways and on construction jobsites in a safe and efficient manner. The Ready-Mix Driver must also complete pre-trip checks, assist with fluid checks and maintenance, securing loads, cleaning, and other duties as directed by the Foreman or Operations Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ability to load Volumetric mixer truck and operate front end loader. Will train if needed
Knowledge of and safe operation of Volumetric Mixer Truck
Ensures quality of product delivered
Follows all safety and environmental regulations and procedures
Assists other drivers as necessary- reports delays/problems to dispatcher
Delivers product in a timely and safe manner following designated routes to and from job sites
Driver is responsible for maintaining safe and mechanical operation of Mixer
Must be able to operate all functions of concrete delivery; e.g., washing Mixer truck after each delivery, handling and assembling discharge chutes and extensions
Responsible for operating the truck in a safe and efficient manner according to company policy, as well as FMCA guidelines
Responsible for following verbal and written directions
Responsible for performing daily maintenance and pre-trip checks
Responsible for cleaning the truck
Responsible for making sure that the truck is secured at the end of the shift

Other Duties:
May perform other duties as assigned by Foreman or Operations Manager

Required Skills:
Must be able to follow directions and operate truck safely
Must be able to maneuver and back truck as required
Must have a working knowledge of construction job-site activities
Must be able to climb into, on, and around truck and trailer
Must be able to stoop, bend, and squat as required for various duties
Must be able to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
Must adhere to safety requirements and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook
Must be able to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and supervisors with other duties as required

Job Requirements:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License
Must have a valid medical card as per DOT standard
Must have a good driving record with no major violations
Eligible to work in the United States
Complete and pass pre-employment testing, including a drug screen and physical

Preferred Experience:
2 years’ experience operating Mixer
Knowledge of various construction equipment
