Early Preschool Assistant Teacher

Description:

Assistant early preschool teacher will assist in the early preschool classroom. Will either be assigned a room or will float between all preschool rooms. Provide a safe, nurturing and caring environment for the children at all times. Develop and maintain positive, effective, and appropriate relationships with the children and families.

Accountability:

The Assistant Preschool Teacher reports to the Center Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED.
Responsibilities:

Assist in creating a nurturing and safe classroom environment for early preschool children.
Implement lesson plans that promote literacy and math skills while catering to individual learning needs.
Manage classroom behavior and encourage positive interactions among students.
Communicate effectively with parents and staff regarding children’s progress and needs.
Support children with special needs, including those with autism and disabilities, ensuring inclusive practices.
Maintain CPR certification and adhere to safety protocols at all times.
Attend staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training provided by the center.
Complete 16 hours of in-service training annually, including becoming re-certified in First Aid and CPR every 2 years (in-service must include 4 hours of health and safety training each year).
Protect privacy and confidentiality of information pertaining to families, children, and team members.
Build positive relationships and communicate in a respectful manner with families, children, team members, administration, Board of Directors, Countryside Church staff, volunteers, and the community in which we serve.


Personal Qualities and Special Job Characteristics
Must be physically able to perform the job of a preschool teacher (e.g. able to lift children and/or equipment up to 40 lbs; able to stoop, bend, sit, and stand for extended periods of time). Must have a warm supportive attitude towards children. Must be willing and able to put aside personal views to relate to families and support them in non-judgemental ways. Must be reliable. Must be flexible in receiving assignments or adapting to changes in the program. Must be willing to accept supervision in order to improve work performance. Must be willing to perform other duties as required.

Job Requirements Within Specified Days of Employment

Obtain Health Assessment and TB test – within 30 days of employment
Complete KBI Background check – 1st day of employment
Complete Fingerprinting for Background Check – within 14 days of receipt of OCA number
Complete Foundations in Early Care Facilities training – within 30 days of employment
Become certified in Pediatric and Adult First Aid and CPR – within 30 days of employment
CCDC Orientation – within 7 days of employment

Compensation

$12-$15 per hour
