Job Description:

Bridge Designer – Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers

Position Summary:
Kiewit Engineering Group is seeking an Early Career Bridge Designer for bridge and infrastructure construction projects in the Englewood, Colorado office. We are looking for the ideal candidate to perform a variety of design and detailing tasks related to concrete and steel bridges, construction methods, and CADD production of conceptual and final design plans. The Structural Designer should be technically competent, and familiar with current tools/programs/software.

Responsibilities:
• Working with engineering team to develop preliminary and final design bridge plans and details.
• Detailing of structural elements, including concrete reinforcement and steel connections.
• Using MicroStation, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software to develop bridge plans.
• Producing reinforcement barlists, engineering reports, models, exhibits, etc.
• Meeting project schedule requirements and deadlines; communicating progress with task lead.
• Ensuring all work is performed in compliance with Kiewit and/or project-specific standards and Quality Management plans.

Qualifications:
• 0-4 years’ experience in CAD production of structural designs and plan sets.
• Associate Degree or better preferred.
• General knowledge of engineering principles and structural materials.

Structural Designer – Kiewit Power Engineers

As a Structural Designer you will be applying engineering drafting principles and procedures in performing basic engineering drafting work. Develops drawings and models with information provided by engineers and designers. Requires close guidance and direction. This position coordinates with other design group team members to review and exchange project information necessary for design and development. Performs specific design functions for the project as assigned. Utilizes Operations Quality Assurance Manual, Operations Drafting/Design Standards Manual and Department quality standards and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes, but not necessarily limited to the following.
• Utilizes Section 7.4, Design and Development of the Operations Quality Assurance Manual on all projects.
• Utilizes the Operations Drafting/Design Standards Manual with each task or assignment.
• Utilizes each applicable document of the Department Quality Standards and Procedures to implement each task or assignment.
• Utilizes Section 7, Design and Design Verification Procedures, of the Project Procedures Manual
• Reports project progression updates and/or issues to Lead Designer as required. Informs Manager and/or Lead Designer of project decisions that differ from Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. standards.
• Learns applicable engineering national and local codes.
• Participates in meetings as required: i.e., Weekly Project Meetings.
• Assists in job related activities with project team members.
• Checks design for consistency, safety, operability and maintenance requirements before submitting to checking.
• Develops 3D models utilizing drawings, sketches, and design skills.
• Develops the capability of checking and navigating in the 3D models for interferences and constructability.
• Creates plan drawings and details.
• Creates Plot Plans and General Arrangement drawings.
• Files the master sets/originals, superseded drawings and originals as required in a timely manner.
• Completes as-builts by utilizing RFIs, ECNs and red-marked drawings from construction to develop “Conformed to Construction Records” as required.
• Completes miscellaneous tasks to support project development.
• Creates guidelines, checklists or other applicable knowledge based documents as assigned.
• Provides lessons learned throughout the project by utilizing the Lessons Learned Database.
• Gathers information needed to develop drawings.
• Resolves checked drawings; prove and understand the comments made.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to communicate through emails and utilize electronic meeting requests. Must have a working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases.

EDUCATION
Pursuing Associate or Bachelor degree in Computer Aided Design & Drafting Technology or related field.

TRAVEL
May serve as a field designer to support the project by performing field measurements, assisting construction personnel in reviewing structural drawings and field construction personnel in reviewing structural drawings and field construction, researching Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. drawings and other information, vendor drawings and O&M manuals, coordinating with Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. office staff, and responding to contractor RFIs.

MEP Drafting Technician

Drafter will use AutoCAD and Revit to convert the engineers mechanical and electrical building system designs into technical drawings. (Revit knowledge a plus, but not required).

Projects Designer/Drafter

Job Summary: The Projects Designer/Drafter is responsible for the layout and design of pneumatic conveying process systems using 2D & 3D CAD as part of the Project Design Package.
• Design and layout the initial concept process drawings. Work with the project engineering team to develop into an approval layout for clients.
• Generate preliminary equipment drawings for use in the initial design of process systems to include Schenck Process manufactured equipment and third party purchased equipment.
• Receive and act on approval or change documents from customer and/or project team. Re-draw or modify the drawing set (equipment and layouts) as the overall project design moves forward.
• Post approval, coordinate with Project team, vendors, and Schenck Process manufacturing to develop the final detailed drawing package (for construction).

Education/Experience Sought: Associate’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Two (2) + years’ experience in 2D & 3D CAD design. Experience in process machine layouts/stack-ups, layout of pipe systems preferred.

Survey Technician/LiDAR Processor

Position Summary:

This position will be within the Survey Group at Bartlett & West. This position will be responsible for processing LiDAR datasets along with QC and management of the processed data. The LiDAR Specialist will have the opportunity to use the latest technologies to provide final deliverables to internal and external clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects within the Survey Group.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Supports all administrative requirements and requests established by the company on the dates specified (e.g., timesheet submission, time estimates, etc.)
Stays abreast of new technology trends and techniques. Participates in professional organization(s) in the area of expertise.

Creates base maps from field data collected from conventional GPS surveys and LiDAR airborne, mobile and static methods

Experience:

1-3 years Lidar experience. Computer orientation with good working knowledge of Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software (AutoCAD, MicroStation), ESRI GIS, ArcMap, Riegl processing software, PostPac MMS, TerraScan, TopoDOT a plus. Minimal field survey experience preferred, but not required.

Travel Expectations:

Lidar Specialist travels in company vehicle or personal vehicle to project sites and meetings with, visiting other company locations and may attend seminars, business meetings or tradeshows. Position travels 0-10% of the time.  Valid driver’s license with good driving record required.

Construction Engineering Technician(Temp)

POSITION SUMMARY:
This entry-level position will perform construction and field observation on projects for assurance that the project has been completed in close compliance with plans and specifications.  Once trained, position works independently with minimal supervision and will apply knowledge of construction practices and materials testing requirements to document Contractor’s construction progress and perform quality assurance on projects.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Perform general and advanced construction and field observation.
Read and interpret construction plans and specifications for quality assurance during construction process.
Working knowledge of surveying, staking procedures, checking line and grade, and cross sections in order to perform quality assurance review in those areas.
Conduct materials testing following prescribed procedures on soil, concrete, bituminous, and aggregate materials.
Maintain log of materials testing results.
Measure installed quantities, track and report on installed products.  Includes calculating areas, distances and volumes.
Write documentation for as-built drawings when adjustments are made to design.
Complete detailed construction reports using MS Word, MS Excel and construction management software systems.
Monitor performance of contractors and have the ability to confront design compliance issues with contractors when identified.
Perform submittal control reviews for billing client(s).
 Knowledge, Skill & Abilities:

General knowledge of construction practices and methodology

Education:

Experience:

0-3 years’ construction, survey, and/or field observation experience.  Proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel required.  Must have ability to pass certifications.  Experience and knowledge of materials testing preferred.  AutoCAD or ArcGIS experience is helpful.

Certification Expectations:

Certifications have reciprocity in some states.  Construction Engineering Technician will need to obtain appropriate certifications for work assignments, and will receive direction from manager on certifications needed.  Construction Engineering Technician must pass all required certifications and maintain those certifications throughout employment.  Certifications that may be required include but are not limited to:

Travel Expectations:

Overnight travel is required.  Construction Engineering Technician travels in company vehicle or personal vehicle to project site staying near project site during the work week with expenses paid.  Depending on base location of employee and/or project work, position travels up to 20-80% of the time.  Valid driver’s license with good driving record required. 

Other Information:

This position is subject to drug and alcohol testing under the authority of the Federal Railroad Administration.  The selected candidate will be required to pass a DOT FRA drug test as a condition of employment in this position. 

The selected applicant will also be required to complete a back-ground check.  An applicant with a confirmed positive test result in the past (or the equivalent) that has not successfully completed all rehabilitation program requirements and follow-up testing requirements is not eligible for this position.

Working Conditions:

Lifting: Occasional maximum lift of 100 lbs. from floor to knuckle; occasional maximum lift of 100 lbs. floor to shoulder; occasional maximum lift 5 lbs. from shoulder to overhead; occasional maximum unilateral lift of 25 lbs. from waist to overhead; occasional maximum carry of 80 lbs., 50 feet; occasional maximum vertical pull force of 125 lbs.; occasional maximum grip force 90 lbs.
Work is primarily outside and will have exposure to extreme weather conditions and nature elements. Will need appropriate clothing for extreme weather conditions.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, crawl and balance for extended periods of time.
Position will have extensive walking.
Must be able to navigate difficult terrain, including un-even surfaces, ditches, steep slopes, etc.
Must be able to use hands for carrying items, operating devices and/or equipment, and operating ATV vehicle.
Must be able to lift/carry items (i.e. testing equipment, tools, etc.)
Work hours dictated by contractors, and can include 12-15 hour work days.
