Direct Support Professionals

Sunflower Supports has immediate openings for direct support professionals to work with individuals with intellectual disabilities. Duties could include cooking, cleaning, assisting with personal hygiene tasks, assisting the individuals at community activities.

Direct Support Worker (DSW)

Must have dependable transportation.

Be able to work with a very flexible work schedule. Normal hours would be 6:00pm to 11:00pm Monday, Wednesday, Fridays, plus four hours shopping once a month.

Hours would be between 15 to 20 hours per week, more if you want.

Duties include: Bathing, Dressing, Hare Care, Skin Care, Nail Care, Transfer, Walking/Mobility, Wheelchair Maneuvering, Meal Planning/Preparation/Clean Up, Shopping/Errands, Laundry, Housekeeping, Minor Sewing/Mending, Assistance in the Community, Other Health Maintenance Activities.

These Duties would not include everyday routine. Not all duties would be performed the same day or the same time.

You will be working with a self directed, physically handicapped, morbidly obese male, with limited mobility.

A $20.00 background check is required.

Alcohol and Drug Technician

Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for providing oversight and supervision of the social detoxification and residential clients. Some of the duties include ensuring housekeeping duties are completed by clients, observing clients and completing hourly client check sheet, completing daily chart progress notes and assisting counselors to ensure that the client treatment needs are appropriately being met.

Job Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Good organizational skills required. Ability to work some evenings, weekends, or holiday hours required. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage. Freedom from abuse of alcohol and other drugs for a minimum period of two years is required. All new employees must be able to provide, at Human Resources orientation, proof of valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance. If required documentation is not provided this will be grounds for inability to continue hiring process. Basic computer skills and data entry skills is necessary to complete the duties of this job. Willingness to complete further computer training to enhance ability to solve problems associated with the computer is required. Must be able perform day-to-day physical requirements of the position, including approximately 5 hours of data entry per shift, frequently moving around the unit throughout each shift, ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed, engaging consumers through activities including going for walks and consumer fun days as necessary, as well as the ability to work day, evening, night or weekend shifts based on the needs of the program. Must be at least 18 years of age or older and be able to pass pre-employment background checks and State of Kansas adult/child abuse registries.

Mental Health Technician

Responsibilities:
The service is targeted to individuals being diverted from a State Hospital. This position involves one-to-one support for mental health clients by assisting them toward maximizing opportunities to become more self sufficient over time in meal preparation, laundry and cleaning, transportation, psychosocial skills, and other personal care needs. The Mental Health Technician will receive training that includes, but is not limited to, an orientation to mental illness, medications, general treatment approaches, attendant care activities, dealing with emergency needs, basic counseling skills, CPR, First Aid, De-escalation, Suicide Assessment, Working with Addicts and Professional Standards and Ethics.

Job Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required. The Mental Health Technician must be reliable, responsible, able to work a flexible and varied schedule and have the ability to interact effectively with others, and to respond appropriately to emergency situations. All new employees must be able to provide, at Human Resources orientation, proof of valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance. In addition, the individual must be 18 years of age or older; be able to pass pre-employment background checks and KDADS Adult/Child Abuse registries, completed Attendant Care training with Valeo Behavioral Health Care, and must have reliable transportation. 1 year of experience working with individuals with mental illness required. This position requires knowledge of basic computer skills.

CMA/CNA

Hiring CMA’s and CNA’s must be able to provide excellent care, showering, some cooking and cleaning. We are a home-Plus so we cater to our residents and you become a family member.
