Office Assistant/IT Department

The KBI is accepting applications to fill an Application Developer. As an Application Developer you would be responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting a complex enterprise application environment that includes the integration of data from multiple sources through service endpoints and other interfaces in support of the KBI and the Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS). PRIMARY DUTIES:
• Identify and document detailed requirements and specifications
• Design solutions that effectively implement requirements
• Develop, debug, and document program code that conforms to organizational standards
• Modify and document changes to existing applications
• Design and execute unit and integration tests for new or modified program code
• Configure application environments for the purposes of development, testing, or production use
• Provide support to users by responding to support requests by ticket, email, in person, and over the telephone
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Provide updates to Applications Development and Support Manager and Project Managers on work in progress, estimated time of completion of tasks, and issues that may impact completion of tasks
• Research new technologies and development practices to make recommendations to management
ADDITIONAL DUTIES

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)
Successful completion of 12 hours in computer science coursework or certification and six months experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs or one year experience coding, testing, and debugging application programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

• Ability to troubleshoot and correct application bugs
• Ability to coordinate efforts of multiple team members and mentor other team members
• Ability to research new technologies, development practices, and enterprise architectural strategies and make recommendations for technological direction of department
PREFERRED REQUIREMENT(S)

Proven experience with any of the following technologies or concepts:
• Microsoft Visual Studio 2010-2017
• The Microsoft .NET framework, up to version 4.7
• Developing applications in C#
• ASP.NET MVC, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, including industry standard frameworks such as Bootstrap and jQuery
• Automated unit testing and integration testing
• Microsoft SQL Server databases, including queries, views, and stored procedures
• Designing relational databases, including normalization
• Microsoft SharePoint
• Service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles and practices
• Design, enterprise architectural, and enterprise integration patterns
• Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) or ASP.NET Web Services (ASMX)
• Web services and associated protocols and specifications, such as SOAP and WSDL
• REST API development
• Microsoft BizTalk or other enterprise application integration framework or enterprise service bus

Network Control Technician I

The KBI is accepting applications to fill a Network Control Technician I position that is assigned to our Help Desk section within Information Technology. The help desk must be adequately staffed to cover three shifts and is operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.

As a Network Control Technician I you will provide support in a technical help desk environment; you will assist KBI agents, law enforcement officers, and KBI and Kansas Criminal Justice Information System (KCJIS) users with day-to-day operational and communication needs; you will also provision access to information resources for users and devices and maintain documentation and databases to support provisioning and authorization; you are expected to answer calls from the public and the Kansas Crime Line; you will maintain policy and procedures to support operations for the Help Desk/Communications Center; Monitor all KBI locations (cameras and access systems) to assist in maintaining site physical security; Provide support for all telecommunication needs of the KBI; Monitor systems relating to the emergency operations of the KBI and serve as the KBI communications center in the event of such emergencies.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

MINIMUM REQUIREMENT(S)
High School Diploma or equivalent and six month experience monitoring and problem solving data, voice, and/or video networks. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

• One year experience working in a Help Desk environment (troubleshooting and diagnosing computer or network issues over the phone).
• One year experience performing computer software installation
• One year experience performing hardware installation.

• One year experience troubleshooting network connectivity
• Experience working with National Crime Center Information (NCIC).
• Experience with shift work in a law enforcement or public safety environment.
• Commitment to producing high-quality work.

• Strong communication skills, oral and written (US English required, additional languages are valued).
