Summary / Objective
The City of Leawood Kansas Police Department is seeking students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited college or university who are interested in joining our summer internship program. The internship program is designed to introduce students to all disciplines within a modern police agency. Interns, by way of their daily assignments, will be given an opportunity to work alongside our employees and observe the daily operations of our patrol, investigative, and administrative divisions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education Requirements –
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at a community college, college, or university that offers/requires students to complete an internship program for graduation.
Minimum Qualifications –
Ability to protect and maintain confidentiality of information.
Standard office procedures, systems, and practices including the use of a computer.
Ability to read, write, and understand the English language with proper spelling and grammar to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
The City of Leawood Police Department wants to mentor energetic individuals who have a keen interest in becoming law enforcement officers. Our goal is to provide our summer interns with opportunities to learn the art of policing as they connect and interact with our employees.
The internship program will last for six weeks between May 28th and July 6th for a total of 120 hours.
The hours of the internship may vary depending on the scheduled activity but the general schedule will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 7am to 3pm. There will be two Fridays that the hours will be 3pm-11pm.
